Please read this page before completing the registration form below.

For a preview of the planned activities on Saturday, April 27, and Sunday, April 28, see the Retreat program schedule of activities and workshops

As you complete the registration form, you will be asked to make some choices about attending limited capacity activities and meal options. Please read the information below before registering your family or group. If you have any questions, please contact the Retreat Committee by emailing

How to Get There

On busy spring weekends, the Park sometimes fills to capacity and stops admitting more visitors. If this happens, you will still be allowed to enter since we have a reservation. If the guard at the contact station asks your destination, say that RRUUC has reserved Blue Jay and Nuthatch Pavilions for the day.

Parking: The Retreat Committee will post signs to guide you to the retreat site. Blue Jay and Nuthatch are located at the end of a 1-mile road, with plentiful parking, restrooms, and a playground. Park only in designated parking spaces. Please leave the handicapped parking spaces for those who have requested them.

Daily Entrance Fee:

  • Each day, you will pay the Park entrance fee at the contact station just inside the park entrance.
  • The per-person fee is $3 for Maryland residents and $5 for out-of-state residents. (Note: this is in addition to the registration fee that you paid when you registered, which goes to RRUUC to cover the Retreat costs.)

Entrance fee discounts and waivers: If you have purchased a Maryland Golden Age Pass or Maryland Passport, the Park will waive your entry fee. More information about passes is here. Check the Maryland park website for information about fee waivers that may be available.

Registration Fees and Family Cap

You will be able to register to attend both days, or for Saturday or Sunday only. If everyone in your family will be attending the same days, please register all of your family members on one form. If some of your family will be attending a different day or different number of days than the rest of your group, please submit a separate form for that person.

We have set a cap on the total registration fee for families that’s equivalent to the fee for two adults and two children. If you are submitting more than one registration form and think your group will hit the family cap, please submit your registration, but wait to pay the registration fee until you consult with the registrar to confirm your total fee. Contact the registrar by emailing

Note that there is a small fee to enter Seneca Creek State Park on weekends ($3 for Maryland residents, $5 for out-of-state). This is not included in your retreat registration fee.

Limited capacity and advance sign-up activities

Most of the planned activities and workshops at the retreat will not require you to sign up in advance. For a few of these activities, we will ask that you indicate if you plan to attend either because we need to limit the size of the group, or so presenters can plan ahead for the approximate number of people who will participate in their activity.

  • Nature walk: The size limit for the nature walk is 10 adults. Children may accompany a parent or other adult; please indicate if you plan to have a child accompany you.
  • Nature journaling: The size limit for this workshop is 12 adults.
  • Weed Warriors: The size limit for this activity is 20. Participants need to be comfortable using long-handled trimmers. We’ll be walking a short distance from the pavilions for this activity, which is geared toward adults and high schoolers. Middle schoolers are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

If more people than the limit sign up for any of these three activities, we will assign a random priority order to each registrant for assigning spots, and to maintain a waiting list to fill any spots that open up.

  • Drumming circle: There is no attendance limit, but we ask that you indicate if you plan to participate, and if you will be bringing your own drum or percussion instrument, so the leader knows how many instruments to bring.

Meal options

Lunch on Saturday and Sunday will be included in the retreat registration. You are welcome to bring your own food if you prefer to. On the registration form you will be asked if you want to have the provided meal or bring your own, to help us plan the quantities needed.

Saturday: Picnic lunch

We’ll be serving a picnic lunch of sandwiches, sides, fruit, and dessert.

Please indicate on the registration form if you plan to have the provided lunch or will be bringing your own.

Sunday: Plant-based cookout lunch

After the Sunday morning service and drumming circle, the Animal Ministry team will serve a plant-based lunch.

The menu for Sunday’s lunch is: grilled Field Roast hotdogs, Impossible Burger patties, and veggie burgers, plus whole wheat buns, salads and sides, and dessert.

We ask registrants who will not be present for the lunch or who would prefer to bring their own food to indicate this on the registration form.

Volunteers are welcome!

The registration form asks if you are able to help with setup, cleanup, and various other tasks that are needed to make the retreat happen. The tasks range from heavy lifting to things that are not physically challenging. There are very few volunteer positions that are seated with minimal lifting and several that are light duty and for less than half an hour. If you ONLY can do a sedentary task, please volunteer for that.
