Donating food for a homeless shelter
Seeking Shelter Week volunteers! For more than 30 years, our congregation has provided a week of meals for a Women’s Homeless Shelter in Rockville, MD.
Shelter Week is happening from Sunday, March 27 through Friday, April 1.
You can help by donating food or supplies.
Here’s how to sign up for Shelter Week:
Please review the needed food and supply item donations and take a minute to sign up. Please claim as many slots as you like. The need this year is even greater than before.
The Shelter needs FOOD, such as:
- Meat, fish, or vegetarian dinner entrée for 15
- Hot Vegetables for 20
- Green salad for 25
- 20 bananas AND a bag of clementines
- Store-bought fresh fruit trays (6 lbs. or more)
- Milk, orange juice and bottled water
Please bring food donations to RRUUC outdoor drop-off table on your assigned day between 3 and 5pm.
Because of the pandemic, all food/drink donations must be delivered to the RRUUC outdoor drop-off table from 3 to 5pm on your assigned day. Or you can deliver the food directly to the Shelter, as long as it arrives by 6pm on your assigned day.
The Shelter also needs supplies.
The Shelter needs dozens of supplies, including paper towels, laundry detergent, garbage bags, and aluminum foil. To sign up to donate supplies, click on Shelter Week sign-up, then click on the “Supplies” tab.
Please bring supply donations to RRUUC outdoor drop-off table on Sunday, March 27 between 3 and 5pm.
