Seminary for a Day: the Black Hole in the White UU Psyche with Rev. Mark Morrison-Reed
March 24 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
From the African Gloster Dalton, who in 1785 was one of the signatories of the Charter of Compact of Glouster Universalist Society, to Edna Griffin, who was known as the Rosa Parks of Des Moines, to Rev. Yvonne Seon, who in 1981 was the first African-American woman ordained into the UU ministry, there are many UUs of color of whom UUs are ignorant. Not knowing about them has allowed a false narrative about who UUs have been to flourish. Why, when it comes to African Americans, is there a black hole in white consciousness, and what purpose has it served?
