October 9 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Announcing the 2019-2020 season of ArtsConnect, a creative arts program at UU Rockville that uses music and visual art to dive into social justice issues. Music & art-based workshops culminate into an evening concert event and art show! The focus this year is Racism & Immigration. The season begins with a 6-part workshop series called “Race and #RealTalk led by singers of the barbershop quartet HALO – barbershop’s first female, internationally competitive, African-American quartet.

“Race and #RealTalk” is part of a research project conducted by members of HALO to investigate the impact of a music therapy program on participants’ attitudes, beliefs and behaviors associated with racism. Workshop participants will also perform in the ArtsConnect concert event alongside HALO on December 15th at 7:00 p.m. at UUCR.

Must be at least 18 years old to participate in the workshop. Space is limited to 30 participants. Workshops will take place at the UU Congregation of Rockville on Oct. 9 & 23, Nov. 6 & 20 and Dec. 4 & 11 from 7:30pm-9:30pm. The workshop series is offered free of charge.
