Sundays at RRUUC feature four main events: Worship Service, Religious Education, our Contemporary Issues Forum, and a coffee hour.
Worship Service
A typical worship service includes music, singing of hymns, a children's story time, a brief period to share individual joys and sorrows, and a 20- to 25-minute sermon.
School age children remain in the service through the story time and then proceed to the education wing for Sunday-School classes. Smaller children (infants to pre-schoolers) can proceed directly to their classrooms before the service starts.
Religious Education
Our Religious Education program consists of classes that meet for about 50 minutes during each of the Sunday services. For children 2 years through eighth grade, classes are grouped by age. There are also a middle-school youth group and a high-school group.
Coffee Hour
After every service, there is a coffee hour in the fellowship hall. Coffee, tea, juice, and cookies are served. This time provides a great opportunity for informal conversations. Visitors are encouraged to take a yellow coffee mug to allow us to stop by and get to know you better. During the coffee hour, the RRUUC bookstore is open. The coffee hour also features information tables about upcoming events at RRUUC and ongoing social justice projects.
Contemporary Issues Forum (CC&C)
From Labor Day to Memorial Day, Sundays at RRUUC feature a 50-minute contemporary issues forum called Coffee, Controversy & Conversation. This program introduces a wide and stimulating variety of topics, and allows generous time for the audience to participate via questions and comments.
Dress
Adults attending services generally dress in a business-casual style. However, some people dress more formally (dresses or suits) and others more casually (blue jeans). During the summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day), people tend to dress more casually.
Children tend to dress more casually than adults. They typically wear cotton pants or sweat pants and tee shirts.
