Covenant Groups

What are Covenant Groups?

Offering Religious Discussion...

Covenant Groups are small groups that meet monthly with the intention of strengthening our connections with each other and with River Road, as well as deepening our spiritual lives.

With River Road’s dramatic growth over the recent years, the small group setting is a way for both new and long-term members to be a part of a smaller community and, hopefully, in the end, to feel more connected to the whole community.

Covenant Groups provide a place for members to explore a wide variety of topics and themes that touch all of our lives. Themes include joy, friendship, loss, fear and spirituality. They are led by facilitators trained to guide group members through individual and group activities that ask us to think about things in a new way so that we might gain, and then share, new insights. From RRUUC covenanting’s deep listening to one another, strong friendships can grow and a spiritual discipline for seeking what’s of ultimate worth for living one’s life can develop.

Who are Covenant Groups for?

Quite literally, Covenant Groups are for every adult. Now entering our eight year, groups include new members and friends, long-term members, men and women, unattached and attached adults, young adults and seniors. Our groups are sometimes segmented by demographics or life stage, their commonality grows from a shared desire to meet other people and a willingness to explore and share ideas.

"Covenant Group has brought a chance to reflect on, and share with a group, a number of provoking issues. Sometimes this has led to real insights, sometimes a deepening of experience and understanding."

What are the details of the program, i.e., meeting dates, times, etc.?

Covenant Groups begin in October, January, April, and June, and meet for  periods of at least eight-months. The groups typically meet once a month here at River Road, although a group may decide to meet more often. You’ll be able to choose a day and time that best fits your schedule.
