Ceremony Fees

The ministers, director of music, and staff at RRUUC are experienced in helping the couple create the wedding or commitment ceremony that is beautiful and memorable.

Minister’s Fees

Members: The minister officiates at ceremonies for members of the congregation as a function of their membership. However, members may make a gift to the minister’s discretionary fund if they wish. Members will be charged the custodial fee for the wedding, with checks made out to RRUUC.

For non-members and new members of less than one year, the fees are:

Ceremony at RRUUC, no rehearsal                       $400

Ceremony at RRUUC, with rehearsal                     $500

Ceremony at another location, no rehearsal         $450

Ceremony at another location, with rehearsal       $550

Note: There is an additional charge for mileage for weddings outside the immediate Washington DC area.

Music

River Road's Director of Music Clif Hardin has had much experience playing for weddings and commitment ceremonies and can be helpful in selecting music. He can also make suggestions and arrange for instrumental or vocal soloists. Consultation and playing for a ceremony is $250. He may be reached at (301)229-0400, ext. 112.

Instrumental or vocal soloists can be arranged for through the Director of Music or independently. Fees are to be arranged and paid directly to the soloist.

  • Use of RRUUC Facility by Outside Clergy: RRUUC will make its facilities available to outside clergy by prior arrangement with the senior minister.
  • Marriage License: A Montgomery County marriage license must be obtained at the Circuit Court in Rockville at least three days prior to the wedding. (The Courthouse is closed on weekends and holidays including state holidays and Good Friday.)In Maryland, no blood test or witnesses are required.
  • Wedding Bulletins: If you wish for a printed program, it is your responsibility to have it designed and printed. The minister will help you with planning the order of service.
  • Photographs: The ministers of RRUC leave the decisions regarding photographs up to the couple but recommend against the use of flash during the ceremony.
  • Flowers and Decorations: RRUUC bulletin boards, art and wall decorations will remain in place. Nothing is to be removed or rearranged without prior approval of the Director of Administration. Arrangements for flowers may be made with the florist of your choice. The florist must arrange delivery times with the Administrator. Flowers may be left for Sunday morning worship with prior arrangement; please check with the Administrator.

Fee Payments

All fees are payable in full before the date of the ceremony, no later than the date of the wedding rehearsal. The check should be made payable to River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation. Please see Building Use Information and Regulations and Contract Form for additional information.
