Climate Justice Month 2015 - UUSC Commit2Respond

The Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) has proclaimed Climate Justice Month 2015 from World Water Day (March 22) to Earth Day (April 22).  During Climate Justice Month, the UUSC is launching Commit2Respond, a national coalition of Unitarian Universalists and other people of faith and conscience working for climate justice. C2R grew out of the UN Climate March that took place in New York in September 2014. To read about actions planned nationally, click here for a pdf about C2R.

River Road UU Congregation will participate in Climate Justice Month starting on Sunday, March 22.

OUR BIG CARBON FOOTPRINT GAME - March 22-April 22.  Reduce the carbon footprint of the RRUUC community.  Play 'Our Big Carbon Footprint' game - For All Ages

How to play the ‘Our Big Carbon Footprint’ game. We have a large black Carbon Footprint cutout at RRUUC. We also have a list of carbon saving activities.  When you commit to a carbon saving activity you get two white stickers.  Put one sticker on the Big Carbon Footprint cutout.  The second sticker goes on your name tag to show your support. The list of carbon saving activities and the stickers will be at a table in the Fellowship Hall after each service.  Each week we will focus on different carbon saving activities.

Week 1: March 22 -29: Carbon saving at Home.  Almost 40 percent of each person’s carbon foot print comes from their home. This equals 16 TONS of carbon emissions per person each year! So doing activities to reduce your home carbon emissions is a great way to reduce Our Big Carbon Footprint. There are things that everyone can do, at every age, and in every type of home.  Some of these save money and some cost money but they all save carbon.
