Program Overview

The 9th - 12th grade YRUU youth group has two sessions that meet regularly on Sunday mornings. One group meets from 9:15 to 10:30 and the other from 11:15 to 12:30. Both groups meet in Room 22. The YRUU program features topics selected by the youth group at our annual Youth Group Retreat in August. The youth use a small group ministry model to create a trusting environment for sharing significant aspects of teen life and spiritual development.  We typically alternate between discussion of important events and issues in the world, and experiencing different spiritual and physical activities. There are many opportunities to participate in social justice events, service activities and to gather for fun and friendship.

Youth are also encouraged to participate fully in the life of the congregation: attend worship services, volunteer for committees, sing in one of the choirs, teach Sunday School, and attend adult enrichment courses.

The Youth Ministry Committee, a committee comprised of youth and adults, is responsible for the oversight of the program. All youth are invited to attend meetings so the committee can hear their ideas and feedback. The committee meets on the first Sunday of each month from 12:45 to 2:30 p.m.

YRUU Events

YRUU holds regular social events for the youth and for the congregation, in order to build community and connections between the two Sunday morning groups and to experience the intergenerational community of this community. They also engage in social justice and outreach projects throughout the year.
