February 14th, 2010 "We the Corporations: ..." Jamie Raskin, Professor of Constitutional Law at American University and MD State Senator

Professor/Senator Raskin will be addressing the recent Supreme Court decision about setting no limits on contributions to political campaigns that corporations may make. This decision reflects the Court's current view of corporations as being equal to persons with the same rights under the Constitution. Professor Rasking has also written a book, "Overruling Democracy: The Supreme Court v. the American People". We will have copies on hand for sale.

February 21st, 2010 "Ethics and Stem Cell Research" Dr. Christine Grady

Dr.Christine Grady, the Acting Director of the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health, will address us with a summary of the current controversy on stem cell research, and what NIH is doing about it. She happens to be related to one of our CC&C Committee members,so we are very fortunate to hear her timely views.
