Pastoral Care

Pastoral care provides a caring presence, careful listening, and a wide range of support services to RRUUC members and friends who are facing life's challenges and/or who are alone. The Ministers and the Pastoral Care Team (PCT) volunteers work together to offer a caring community and create an atmosphere of hope for RRUUC members and friends who are in need.

If you need to reach a minister with a pastoral care emergency, the number is (301) 787-4938.  For more information in a non-urgent situation, call the office between 9 AM and 4 PM M-F at 301-229-0400.

To Join the Pastoral Care Team

The Pastoral Care Team brings together a group of RRUUC members who share a quietly rewarding adventure. We enjoy meeting new people and old friends and acquaintances who need a ride or a meal or some company and support. We meet once a month (Monday 3:30 to 5:00) to talk about those small but significant efforts. Russ Savage is our guide. We are not professional helpers, though we accept the discipline of keeping confidential what is personal. We find out how to be useful on a case-by-case basis. There are enough of us that we are not burdened by too many calls.

We always welcome more good people.  You will get an orientation and training. If interested call Rev. Russ Savage, 301/229-0400   Ext. 105.
